Clarence Wolfshohl, editor of American Amateur Journalist, attended the Scissortail Creative Writing Festival in Ada, OK, April 6-8. The Scissortail Festival celebrated its twelfth anniversary hosting over fifty writers from all over the country. The featured writers were Patricia Hampl, memoirist from Minnesota, and Leif Enger, novelist also from Minnesota.
This was Wolfshohl’s sixth appearance at Scissortail. He read poetry from his Scattering Ashes, an e-chapbook published by Virtual Artists Collective last year. Besides being immersed in wonderful works of the imagination for three days, he enjoyed visiting many old friends among the writers.
Amateur journalism is a unique activity. Amateur journalists publish journals on paper & online & come from many perspectives: from deluxe letterpress printed journals, to Xeroxed newsletters, to artistically designed cards and ephemera. We embrace the spirit of being amateurs – loving what we do for pure joy and not financial gain – while creating top quality journals, zines, and homemade publications.
