Hi Friends,
You should be receiving your August bundle soon. Ivan and I stuffed the envelopes a week ago, and then I mailed them out on Tuesday. It is a great bundle, once again showing the creative and technical stuff we're made of.
I want to say that I was sad to hear of Harry Spence's passing, but that in addition to being sad, I was so very impressed that he put out his journal, Independence Way, right to the end, and then sent us a dignified Farewell in May (Number 379!), and was off. I hope you are sailing a James A. Wright Barque, 1877, across smooth seas. We are so lucky in this organization to get to know people through their writing. I hope Harry knew how much we all appreciated his stories.
I hope all of you know!
If you live anywhere near Portland, consider coming to a casual outdoor potluck/picnic at my house on September 4th at 4 pm. to welcome Peter and Connie Schaub to the Northwest. Rain will just move it inside. Please bring food to share unless you are coming from out of town. I am currently being buried under a garden full of vegetables, so there will be plenty to eat. All (kids/friends/relatives) are welcome. My address is on the bundle.
Happy summer days to you,
Heather Lane
Amateur journalism is a unique activity. Amateur journalists publish journals on paper & online & come from many perspectives: from deluxe letterpress printed journals, to Xeroxed newsletters, to artistically designed cards and ephemera. We embrace the spirit of being amateurs – loving what we do for pure joy and not financial gain – while creating top quality journals, zines, and homemade publications.
