December Picks of the Month
June T. Bassemir :: December 25, 2019
It was hard to choose between Marey B's joyous "JOY" with a good plan of filling in the days of next year with good things and Clorence Wolfshohl's crisp red tree ornament ready to hang on the tree.... both are nice examples of what this season is all about. I was happy to add them to my Christmas card collection hung over the mantel..
Dave Tribby's "Tribune" for December gets my vote for good printing of his and Liz's 2019 travels.. I would like to see a picture of Liz's "cage" to keep the squirrels away from her vegetables.. I could use an invention like that too, to foil those smart furry critters!
Bill Stahl's essay on "The Sokol Club" was told very well. It was easy to imagine sitting there on a stool , smelling the smoke and liquor and then watching just how cleverly he handled his drunken patron, Hank. Three cheers to Bill for opening the doors of his Club to anyone not familiar with the bar scene.
A special note to Delores Miller: I know what it is like to approach the Christmas holidays without a spouse but I have found that one can be alone and yet not be lonely.....to enjoy each day given to love those around us and to be grateful for all the good still in store for us. Much love to you.
