There was much to be thankful for in the November AAPA bundle: six excellent journals plus five fun "miscellaneous items." It was hard to narrow down to three "picks of the month," but here they are:
Mike O'Connor made a colorful return to AAPA with the inagural issue of Fountain Views. He fits a lot of content into two pages, starting by introducing himself, then moving onto AAPA history, adding some boosterism for Arizona weather, and closing up with a history of White Castle hamburgers.
One of AAPA's frequent publications, Philamont Magazine, devoted the November issue to reprinting Ray Bradbury's 1953 story, "The Flying Machine." As always, Sean Wilmut uses elegant typography plus several flourishes to present the text.
Austin Jones letterpress-printed a quote from Mark Twain that has a contemporary feel.
Thanks to all who made the November bundle an interesting read!
Amateur journalism is a unique activity. Amateur journalists publish journals on paper & online & come from many perspectives: from deluxe letterpress printed journals, to Xeroxed newsletters, to artistically designed cards and ephemera. We embrace the spirit of being amateurs – loving what we do for pure joy and not financial gain – while creating top quality journals, zines, and homemade publications.
