Thanks for checking into the AAPA website, and please take some time to browse around! Here are some choices of note from the bundle for the month of July:
Writing of the Month: Guest reviewer and AAPA Official Mailer Heather Lane tackled the bundle reviews with verve & vigor in the July edition of the American Amateur Journalist – proof positive that not only are the bundles entertaining but the reviews of the bundles are just as engaging.
Project of the Month: Nine-18-Thousanths Press gifted AAPA members with a gorgeously designed bookmark – now the tough choice is which book to grace with their beautiful creation?
Journal of the Month: For the second month in a row Gregory McKelvey’s The Ink Zone stands out as my journal of the month choice. #153 includes an article about the colorful art / craft of decorative illustration known as Rosemaling and artist Inger Johnsen. Rosemaling developed among my Norwegian ancestors, which made this essay even more intriguing for me personally.
Amateur journalism is a unique activity. Amateur journalists publish journals on paper & online & come from many perspectives: from deluxe letterpress printed journals, to Xeroxed newsletters, to artistically designed cards and ephemera. We embrace the spirit of being amateurs – loving what we do for pure joy and not financial gain – while creating top quality journals, zines, and homemade publications.
